I've fallen in love with the Ranma 1/2 series, and have developed an unhealthy obsession for Ryoga. There's something attractive about characters that turn into other characters. Like Lupin turning into a wolf, and Ryoga into a pig. I also got myself a Hot Shot transformer toy, that turns from a robot into a car. And have been scouring Ebay for little P-chan plushies. Procrastination is a wonderful thing.
Ranma is the first anime/manga that I've really fallen in love with. Before that I've always held an objective view about anime, but now I'm really getting into it. Rumiko Takahashi is a genious, and I love her sense of humor very much. It's a breath of fresh air compared to what we've been getting in the movies nowadays, like Scary Movie *shudder* and all those sexually explicit no-taste sort of thing. Sure, Takahashi has got some nudity in her work, but it's tasteful and its more about gender rather than sex.
Plus, the relationship between Ryoga and Akane is just the sweetest thing I've ever seen.
i agree! ranma has great harmless humour in it. it is cleverly n distingtively Takahashi's style. totally with u in Scary Movie n all those sex comedy. they r more disgusting than humourous.
*loves P chan as well but i m more into the Duck guy. find him helplessly amusing.
I got a P-chan plushie and he's currently following me everywhere at the moment. Can't get enough of him.
I thought that American humour was going down the drain until i saw Connie and Carla. That was actually okay! But Takahashi Rules! I love Takahashi! Takahashi! Takahashi!
The difference between the pig-guy and the duck-guy is that the duck-guy doesn't really care when Shampoo rejects him, he just keeps going anyway, but Ryoga falls apart at one rejection. But come to think of it ... he still keeps going too.
I'm completely unfamiliar with the show, but these are so adorable! I can't decide if I like the one where he's sitting down, or the one with the bitty umbrella better. Either way, they're all like bite-sized hunks of pencil sweetness!
He's actually the arch-nemesis of the protagonist in the story, and he has a very bad sense of direction, thus he keeps getting lost. He keeps getting beaten up, he never gets the girl, PLUS, he turns into a pig when he gets wet. And I'm a sucker for characters like that. And he doesn't appear only sporadically in just two books, but in all of them! I have a feeling that er ... Lupin has been shoved aside for Ryoga. *fidget*
You're not the only one with an unhealthy obsession with Ryouga... *drools* my car is named after him XD
(wouldn't he be afraid of cold water instead of hot water?)

(AIE! I'm making up strange similies!)
And did I mention he does martial arts?
